The Republic of Sudan is the largest country in Africa covering over 2,000,000 square km, yet one of the least visited. The blue and white Niles meet in Khartoum to form the River Nile, which flows northwards through Egypt to the Mediterranean Sea and cleanly divides the east and west. Within its population of approximately 40,000,000 Sudan is home to 597 tribes speaking 400 languages and dialects. The diverse mix and legendry hospitality is sure to fascinate any visitor.
As Sudan is very much lesser known than its neighbor, Egypt, the dive sites are guaranteed to be un-crowded and un-spoilt. The perfectly preserved coral gardens, forests of soft corals, wrecks and reefs showcase the Red Sea at its finest. The majority of Sudan's diving is on coral pinnacle formations rising from amazing depths. The marine life which the coral and underwater microclimate attracts is vast in number and stunning in color, the underwater microclimate also ensures the warm year round currents keeping sea temperatures between 24 – 28 degrees. The mostly frequently seen list from divers includes bumphead parrotfish, sweetlips, barracuda, one-eyed jacks, reef sharks, hammerhead sharks, grey tipped sharks, white snapper, trevally, tuna, manta rays, moray eels, reef fish, sea turtles plus many more.
